Starting life as a BBC sitcom in 2001,
The Office zoomed in on the British working-class mindset and helped launch comedian Ricky Gervais' career. The Office is a mockumentary - a facetious or satirical work (as a film) presented in the style of a documentary - set in Scranton, Pennsylvania as a camera crew follows the employees of the regional branch of a mediocre paper company, Dunder-Mifflin. The crew follows the employees all day and night and captures their bizarre and ridiculous encounters while trying to keep their company afloat.
